The lineup of 2024 Volkswagen vehicles in Albuquerque, NM won’t veer too far from the current choices as the company works to expand its EV offerings, including the highly anticipated ID.Buzz minivan and ID.7 midsize sedan. The new EVs are expected to arrive in 2025, so VW has instilled all its 2024 models with more standard safety and emergency service features, giving buyers more value.
With one of the newest lineups on sale today, Volkswagen can boast that every auto on offer has been redesigned or refreshed since the 2022 model year. All models with automatic transmissions have also been upgraded to counter the slight price increase across the board. IQ Drive, the company’s suite of advanced (semi-autonomous) driver-assist features, comes standard for 2024. It includes active lane control, adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and an Emergency Assist feature that will stop the car (automatic transmissions) and engage the hazard lights if the driver is unresponsive.
But what about VWs that have a stick shift? There’s no need to worry because the manual models also get all the features listed above, except Emergency Assist.
Additionally, VW’s emergency information services will be provided for five years at no extra cost. Using the myVW app (excluding the ID.4 model) gives owners Car-Net Safe & Secure, which includes crash notification, an anti-theft alert, and emergency assistance.
2024 VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport – These SUVs have redesigned front and rear ends, sporting a light bar and fender flares for an athletic look. Replacing the previous engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 that delivers up to 269 hp, mated to a front-wheel-drive 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available on all trims for $1900.
Even the base model of the Atlas, the SE, is well-equipped, with standard features such as a power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive LED headlights, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, and a 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

2024 VW Jetta and Jetta GLI – Celebrating the 1984 arrival of the Jetta GLI, Volkswagen is launching a new 40th Anniversary Edition model for the sporty sedan. It has cosmetic upgrades throughout the interior and exterior, blacked-out accents, a black spoiler, and 18-inch black alloy wheels.
You’ll find a 228 hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 under the hood of the Jetta GLI that also provides 258 lb-ft of torque. Driving the front wheels is a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission ($800 more) with adaptive dampers, a limited-slip differential, and larger brakes.
The base model Jetta S adds a leather-wrapped shift lever, rain-sensing wipers, and a synthetic leather-wrapped steering wheel.
2024 VW Arteon – As one of only five full-size sedans in the mainstream market, the Arteon is an exceptional all-around family sedan that stands out with its good looks both inside and out. A 300 hp turbo-4, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and AWD will please the enthusiast driver, while the roomy cabin keeps the family comfortable and happy. Sadly, 2024 is the last year for the Arteon due to low consumer demand for sedans.
Golf GTI and Golf R – The beloved GTI hatchback comes in S, SE, and Autobahn trims, which all get power folding mirrors for 2024, and SE models get a new wheel design. A ‘GTI 380’ package is in the works, but no official details have emerged. The Golf R will also get power folding mirrors and a new 19-inch wheel design sometime mid-year 2024.
