Introducing the 2025 VW ID.7 near Rio Rancho, NM
Whether you’re ready or not, there is little doubt that EVs (electric vehicles) will soon become much more prevalent on our roadways. Even as you currently travel in and around Rio Rancho and the Albuquerque area, you may notice more EVs sharing the road than ever before. Since Volkswagen is not a brand to get left behind when it comes to trends in the automotive world, the company is dedicated to strengthening its all-electric offerings with some intriguing options. The VW ID.4 successfully debuted in the U.S. in 2021 and has become a popular choice among compact SUV drivers. A second offering, is the ID.Buzz, a reimagined version of the iconic VW microbus, is slated to arrive on American soil sometime this year, and the upcoming 2025 VW ID.7 near Rio Rancho, NM is scheduled to go on sale for the second half of 2024.
What to Expect
While many automakers have begun offering electric vehicles, small crossovers or compact SUVs are the most affordable ones. Most of the electric sedans that are currently available wear luxury name tags with luxury prices to match. Volkswagen’s ID.7 is expected to start at around $55,000, making it one of the only reasonably priced electric sedans on the market. Sure, the BMW i4, Tesla Model 3, and Hyundai’s Ioniq 6 are about the same price as the ID.7, but none are as spacious. Sporting a fastback body style, the ID.7 has a 117-inch wheelbase, a bit longer than the recently retired VW Passat, placing it at the larger end of the midsize sedan segment. And to compare, the Mercedes-Benz EQE is similar in size, but its starting price is about $20K more!
With its accommodating cabin, excellent price, decent power, and a probable driving range of around 300 miles, we think VW’s sleek new ID.7 EV will be turning the heads of sedan lovers near and far.
But What Makes it Go?
The VW ID.7 near Rio Rancho, NM will be available in two trims, the Pro and Pro S. The Pro variant will have a 77-kWh battery pack, offering more than 380 miles of range, while the larger 86-kWh battery in the Pro S will provide a range of about 435 miles. (Range claims are based on Europe’s WLTP testing cycle, which is usually more generous than the US’s EPA estimates.) No matter which trim you choose, however, the ID.7 utilizes a single electric motor that produces 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque. Both configurations will yield more than respectable, if not lightning-quick, acceleration.
VW ID.7 near Rio Rancho, NM: Interior and Tech
With no traditional instrument panel, the dashboard has a crisp and clean look. Situated in front of the driver, a small digital panel provides vehicle speed and houses the mandatory array of warning lights. The other important driver information is conveyed through the standard head-up display. Not only does the HUD project your speed and posted speed limits onto the windshield, but it also projects augmented-reality arrows to show which way to turn when using the navigation system.
The centrally-mounted 15-inch (!) infotainment touchscreen is the focal point of the cabin and is much faster than the smaller display used in the ID.4. For audio volume and temperature controls, there are illuminated touch sliders below the screen. Additionally, the ID.7 responds to voice commands.
Thanks to that long wheelbase and no transmission tunnel, the ID.7 is incredibly roomy inside. This holds true especially in the second row, where there’s legroom galore and three adults can sit comfortably. The 60/40 split-folding rear bench seat can be folded forward for extra cargo room - more than 56 cubic feet of usable space if needed. Otherwise, the ID.7 has 27 cubes of cargo space beneath its power rear hatch.
Nearly every premium feature you can think of is included in the ID.7. One of the most impressive and innovative is the electrochromic glass roof that changes from opaque to crystal clear with the push of a button (or voice command!)
