Within the automotive industry, the popular Volkswagen Tiguan resides in the highly competitive compact crossover SUV segment. It is also one of a few in its class to offer three rows of seating. So if you’re looking for a compact crossover with enough seating for your growing family, the 2023 VW Tiguan in Albuquerque NM may be your best bet. The newest Tiguan brings a lot to the table with an updated design and more standard features.
Tiguan Exterior Design
The VW Tiguan was slightly refreshed for last year’s model, giving it a more stylish profile than the previous year. A more prominent grille, a revised front bumper, updated LED lights, and new wheel designs (ranging from 17 to 20-inch diameters) were all added for 2022. When you consider the gentler curves and massaged body lines of the exterior, the new Tiguan is one of the more appealing cars in its class, looking like a smaller version of the VW Atlas or a more expensive Audi model.
You may notice that the Tiguan’s daytime running lights flow directly into the grille’s horizontal bars, the body contours align with the taillights, and the wheel well furrows are all in unison. This creates a fluid and unified look that competitors’ designs lack. We expect the 2023 model to retain this fresh look.
Thanks to their exceptional design and superior materials, you can bank on Volkswagen interiors to be first-rate. You’ll enjoy a modern and distinctive cockpit with an 8-inch digital gauge cluster and a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen when you get in the driver’s seat. A larger 10.25-inch instrument display and 8-inch infotainment screen come standard on top-tier models but are available for the lower trims as well. The refreshed Tiguan received more touch-sensitive features, updated modern buttons, and a center console that separates the infotainment controls from the climate controls.
More standard amenities include Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a six-speaker audio system, and two USB ports. Available upgrades for 2022 included a Fender audio system, nine speakers, a wireless charging pad, navigation, satellite/HD radio, and keyless access with push-button start. Expect the 2023 VW Tiguan in Albuquerque NM to be similar.
All trim levels will get heated front seats for 2023 and a long list of active safety/driver-assist features, including forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring and more. Even more available safety features include lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, a surround-view parking camera, a driver drowsiness monitor, and more.
Delivering 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder currently powers the Tiguan S, SE, and SE R-Line Black. A smooth-shifting 8-speed transmission is paired with the engine on all versions, and front-wheel drive is standard on the lower trims. The Tiguan SEL R-Line comes standard with VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Interestingly for 2022, all FWD Tiguans came standard with third-row seating, but the AWD models did not. As of this date, we don’t know if this will remain the same for 2023.
No official word on its release date has been announced, but we expect the 2023 Tiguan to arrive sometime this fall. Meanwhile, you can get an idea of it when you stop by your local VW dealer at 8201 Lomas Blvd NE in Albuquerque NM and take a look at the 2022 models here at Fiesta Volkswagen!
